RAINIER — Host Rainier built up a 22-0 halftime lead and went on to blank undermanned North Beach in a non-league opener Friday at Rainier.

Hard-hit by graduation, the Hyaks suited up only 16 players Friday. More are expected to be available for subsequent games.

The Mounties cashed in heavily on North Beach turnovers.

“We have a lot of young kids,” Hyak coach Todd Bridge said. “I am thankful for non-league games to get experience. We will be all right in the long run. Rainier is pretty good.”

The Hyaks will make their first home appearance Friday against Life Christian.
