The estimated levy rate per$1,000 of assessed property value is $1.31, according to the proposition before voters in thedistrict.

Levy an opportunity

to support local schools

As an educator, I have enjoyed working with the youth in Washington State since 1991. My husband is a retired Washington educator with over thirty-nine years of service. On a daily basis, we see this community’s tax dollars put to excellent use.

We have the opportunity to once again support our local schools with the upcoming school levy. This replacement levy is NOT an increase. This replacement levy is significantly lower than surrounding school districts’ levies.

It is vital to continue our community’s support of our schools and programs. This levy provides funding for sports, school activities, music, additional staff, and building maintenance. These items are some, but not all, of the many essential parts that make up our successful local school system.

This levy is the only locally approved ballot measure that enables our school district to bridge the gap between what our state pays for and what it actually costs for educational and operational needs. Renewal of this levy is critically important as it provides funding for students at all grade levels and at all three of schools within the North Beach School District.

North Beach was fortunate recently to receive the Federal GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Grant. This seven-year grant supports a new and additional program to our North Beach Schools. This GEAR UP Grant supports the new AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program which is not covered by our local levy dollars.

Ballots will be mailed out January 26th and Election Day is February 13th. Please join me in voting “yes” for the North Beach Schools Replacement Levy and continue all of fantastic things that our local district implements to provide an environment of success for all of our local youth. Accomplished schools are part of a vibrant and thriving community. We all benefit when our school system provides our students with all the necessary components of an excellent education!
