Kiwanis Christmas parties
touch hundreds of children
The generosity of the businesses, Fraternal Organizations and Non Profit Organizations and the citizens of Ocean Shores and the North Beach once again made it possible for our annual Kiwanis North Beach Children’s and Teen Christmas Parties to succeed.
The Convention Center hosted the 12 years and younger party with Santa on December 15 — 353 children attended and all received gifts and toys. Local ladies provided mounds of cookies. Cheer and Christmas music filled the air. A good time was enjoyed by all.
The Teen Christmas Party was held at the Ocean Shores Convention Center, as well, on Saturday evening, December 15. There were 91 teens in attendance, grades 7 thru 12 from the North Beach School District. Dinner was catered by George Lee and gifts were enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Nick Falley and his crew who made the Teen Party happen.
Twenty-eight children from low income families, ages up to 17 years old, received clothing and shoes that were wrapped and delivered to their homes.
The following generous businesses, organizations and individual citizens made these three holiday events possible. There are many donors of toys that are not mentioned as they dropped off items at various collection points anonymously. Our sincere apologies to any donors who we may have overlooked.
North Beach Eagles 4197, Los Hombres Motorcycle Club, Don and Judy Toon, Five Star Dealership , Paul and Donel Suchin, Ocean Shores Convention Center, Sea Pals of Ocean Shores, Ocean Shores Community Club, Ace Hardware Buck Electric, Bob and Ruth Biggs, Mike Flanagan, Joanne Gallager Beach Time Quilts, Bruce Lindquist, Judith Weber, Women Helping Women, Denise Coates, Harbor Faith Riders, Buddy and Howies Candy, Jeanne Finke, Lenny and Sandy Johnston, Kathy Gustafson, Susan and Lee Kloeppel, Mike and Sandy McNeil, Jim and Carol Nagan, North Beach VFW, Lee and Lois Schuster,
And a huge thank you to all the volunteers that moved the toys into the Convention Center and worked the Convention Center party and the volunteers that helped set up the teen party as well as all the volunteers that helped wrap the clothes and shoes and delivered to the homes.

Holiday Book Drive
The staff at the Ocean Shores Library would like to thank all of the generous people who donated new children’s books to give away to kids for the 6th annual Holiday Book Drive. We were able to give 102 local children, age’s baby to 12 years, a wrapped book for the Holiday. Thank you to our volunteers who wrapped children’s books for this event, Kathleen Hansen, Kelly Osness, Bonnie Thormeyer, Jeanne Anderson, and Melanie Jones. Much thanks also goes to the volunteers who assisted at the Kids Holiday Party, Kathleen Scott and Hannah Raaberg. We will keep holding this book drive and distribution every year around the holidays, so we can continue to give local children the gift of reading.
