Daniel Verne Olson, 64, long time Ocean Shores resident passed away at his home on April 15, 2017.
Dan is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Julie (Shad) Keene of Medford, Ore.; Laura (Jarrod) Figg of Montesano, Wash.; and his older brother, Fred Olson of Seattle, Wash., along with his three grand-boys and many close friends.
Dan was born on Aug. 6, 1952, in Seattle, Wash. He was the second son of Vern and Rene Olson. Dan grew up in the Broadview neighborhood of Seattle.
He graduated from Ingraham High School in 1970 and after graduating from Shoreline Community College went to work for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). He moved to Ocean Shores in 1979.
Dan retired after 33 years of service with the DNR. He loved what he did and was very proud of his job, but most of all, he loved the people that he worked with. Dan forged many lifelong friendships that remained strong even after his retirement.
Once retired, he loved reminiscing about his days in the forest and fighting wildfires and fondly talked about his friends and co-workers often.
Dan was a kind, friendly, generous, funny and loving man. He loved traveling with his brother, attending NASCAR and Indy 500 races, and listening to music.
He was an avid sports fan, loved to watch the Mariners and always had a game or race on TV.
He also enjoyed walking Damon Point to find agates and spending time with family and friends.
His family loved him very much, and they take solace in knowing he is at peace now.
Dan touched many lives with his friendly and outgoing personality. His family and friends miss him immensely.
Dan will be laid to rest near his parents at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, Wash.
At his request there will not be a service.
