Voter information for Grays Harbor County

Essential information for voting in the upcoming Nov. 8 general election.

More than 40,000 ballots were mailed out last week to registered voters in Grays Harbor County, according to County Auditor Vern Spatz.

The general election will be held Nov. 8. All ballots must either be postmarked no later than Nov. 8 or placed in a county elections drop box between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. An accessible voting unit is available at the county voting center, located in Montesano at the Auditor’s office.

Ballot collection sites are located in the following locations.

Ocean Shores: Convention Center at 120 W. Chance a la Mer; open election day only.

Westport: Council Chambers at 506 W. Montesano; open election day only.

Hoquiam/Aberdeen/Cosmopolis: YMCA drop box at 2500 Simpson Ave., Hoquiam

McCleary: VFW at 18 N. Summit Road; open election day only.

Oakville: Methodist Church at 204 E. Main St.; open election day only.

Montesano: County courthouse drop box on First Street.

Ballots can be mailed, with proper postage, in the signed return envelope. Voters should mail ballots one week before the due date to account for unforeseen events or weather issues. Voter’s pamphlets have been mailed to registered voters and are available at the county elections office, most post offices or online at the Secretary of State’s website (www.sos.wa.gov).

The deadline for registered voters to update their mailing address has passed. The deadline to register online or by mail has also passed. Contact the elections department from a former address to request a ballot at a new address. Verify registration status at www.myvote.wa.gov.

New voters may register in person until Oct. 31 at the county elections department, and military voters are exempt from voter registration deadlines.
