UPDATE (3:22 p.m. Nov. 14)
A 42-year-old woman tried to hang herself early this month at the Grays Harbor County jail.
The woman was being held on drug charges, Undersheriff Brad Johansson said.
Around 6 p.m. Nov. 2, inmates recognized that the woman was trying to kill herself and told jail staff, who intervened.
Johansson said that the woman did not suffer any permanent injuries. He added that because of the attempted suicide, she was deemed to be a potential danger to herself or other inmates and put on suicide watch. A designated crisis responder was requested to do an evaluation of her well-being.
