Driftwood Players’ next production is scheduled to open the last day of April.
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time,” a one-act drama for teens and adults, is directed by Brad Duffy.
It tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who has an extraordinary brain. “He is exceptional at mathematics, but ill equipped to interpret everyday life,” says Driftwood Players Publicity and Public Relations Trustee Debbie Scoones. “He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers.
“Now it’s seven minutes after midnight, and Christopher stands beside his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, who has been speared with a garden fork. Finding himself under suspicion, Christopher is determined to solve the mystery of who killed Wellington, and he carefully records each fact of the crime. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world.”
Performance dates are April 30, May 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and 22. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with the Sunday matinee scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 and are available at: Valu Drug in Montesano, City Center Drug in Aberdeen, Harbor Drug in Hoquiam, The Dusty Trunk in Ocean Shores, online at aberdeendriftwood.com or at the door.
Rush tickets can be purchased the night of the performance for $10 for students presenting a student ID card, if seats are available.
Scoones announced that the Friday, May 6, performance will be a “pay what you can” night with the hopes that this will bring new people in to the theater, and she reminds everyone that masks must be worn in the theater at all times.
The theater is located at 120 E. Third St. in Aberdeen.
