The city of Ocean Shores has scheduled a public meeting for April 4 to discuss the preliminary design of what the city calls the Pt. Brown Sidewalks project.
The project “will evaluate a variety of alternatives for maintaining access while improving pedestrian and bicycle safety, revitalizing the commercial downtown core, and accommodating peak visitor events. Additional project priorities include improved aesthetics and continued easy access to local businesses with readily available on-street parking,” the city said in a meeting notice.
Doors at the Ocean Shores Convention Center open at 5 p.m., with a presentation from 5:30-6, followed by a discussion period with designers from 6-8. A consultant team led by David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) has been retained to assist the city, which conducted an initial round of meetings with property owners and businesses last August.
From that, the consultant has drafted three design alternatives that will be presented to the public for review.
Preliminary Design funding is provided by state and federal grants, as well as a Grays Harbor County economic development grant. Grants to cover future phases, including final design, right of way purchases and construction are being pursued by the city as the project design progresses.
“Please come and make your voice heard,” city Public Works Director Nick Bird said. The choice of the three alternatives will be a “key part in moving forward toward a final solution.”
