September begins to have the feel of fall in the air outside, but you can take heart in the warming displays of color inside the 25th annual Whale of a Quilt Show, which runs Sept. 21-23 at the Ocean Shores Convention Center.
The longstanding event features presentations of quilts, quilted items, wearables, and other items that have been made by the members of the area quilters guild. Admission is free and donations are appreciated. Drinks and refreshments are available. Free door prizes will be given out all three days.
Winning entries are not judged by a panel, but by the show visitors. Here your vote counts!
Many vendors from the Northwest will be featuring the latest in fabrics, patterns, quilting/sewing supplies, and machines. Pacific Sharpening will be on site Friday and Saturday for any sharpening needs. The Boutique presents many handmade items for sale. “Quilters in Action” demonstrates the making of quilt blocks. Demonstrations from vendors and other quilters are also scheduled all three days, and schedules will be posted at the show.
There is a quilt walk in the downtown area, September 13-27 with various business locations participating. Free maps will be available at the show.
The Ocean Shores Sea Pal Quilt Guild is non-profit and made up of over 60 quilters from Ocean Shores and the surrounding area. The funds raised are used for helping local charitable organizations, sponsoring the annual show and conducting classes. The major source of funding is the Raffle Quilt that the members create, making this a unique prize for the winner of a $1 ticket. The quilt is awarded at 2 p.m. on Sunday. You do not have to be present at the drawing to win.
