This Saturday’s annual Flag Day Parade in Ocean Shores could turn out to be somewhat of a patriotic battle of the marching bands.
“We have five big bands coming this year,” said parade organizer Ernie Nelson. “This looks like a big year for bands.”
In addition, there will be five drill teams coming down from the Seattle-Tacoma area, bringing hundreds of kids and families to the area.
“It’s more drill teams and bands than we have ever had,” he said.
One of the bands from Everett includes about 200 members, Nelson noted. Other bands are coming from Lacey and the Tacoma area.
The Flag Day Parade runs through downtown Ocean Shores, starting at the city gates and ending at the Convention Center. Traditionally, it is the biggest Flag Day parade in Western Washington. Call Nelson at (360) 581-6983 or 289-2314 to participate or register.
