A 25-year-old Ocean Shores man was killed early Sunday morning when he was hit by a pickup while laying in the roadway on State Route 109 about seven miles north of Hoquiam.

The State Patrol identified the man as Kolton E. Beglinger. He reportedly was laying on the highway at milepost 7 about 2:20 a.m. when he was hit by pickup driving by a 33-year-old Hoquiam woman, a State Patrol report said. The driver, who was headed northbound at the time, was not injured, the State Patrol said.

She was “unable to stop and struck the pedestrian,” the report said. The incident still is under investigation.
