One of the best ways to enjoy Ocean Shores is to visit one of the many dining choices. For a beach town, we have an amazing variety of restaurant’s, bistros and cafes.
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals, and although I am not a morning person and enjoy my breakfast a little later in the day than most, you can’t deny the magical scent of bacon in the air. One of our favorites as a family is to have breakfast for dinner. My in laws have a large outdoor griddle at their home and on holiday weekends, a big breakfast cooked outside is a great way to spend time. Weather you are a fan of a traditional bacon-and-egg breakfast or something trendy like an avocado smash toast offering, great days start with breakfast.
Over the last few years, there have been some new choices in Ocean Shores for breakfast and brunch. Have you tried the Ocean Beach Roasters? Recently under new ownership, they have kept some of the menus favorites and added some great new choices. Stop by and try the southwestern breakfast, or red velvet waffles. Located at 841 Point Brown Ave., they are open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A long-time local favorite in Ocean Shores is Our Place. They’re open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the place fills up fast, but it’s definitely worth the wait. One of my favorites at Our Place is the salmon eggs Benedict. Find them tucked away at 676 Ocean Shores Blvd.
A new choice for breakfast on the south side of Ocean Shores is the Oyhut Bay Bistro. A unique menu item is the German omelet. Pork brats with stone ground mustard, sauerkraut and served with fried potatoes. Also just opened next door is the new Riptide Coffee Company. Open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 400 Salmonberry Lane.
Other breakfast spots include the Sunny Beach Cafe and the Home Port, both on Pt. Brown.
Now that you have a few ideas on where to start your day, here’s where to go this weekend after breakfast:
— The Ocean Shores Body and Soul Festival Aug. 12-13 at the Ocean Shores Lions Club, 833 Ocean Shores Blvd. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Get your furry friend ready for a day of adventure at the Woof-a-Thon. Saturday Aug. 12 at the North Beach High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors, demonstrations, the walk and pet treat stations.
So get up early this weekend, try a new breakfast spot or revisit your favorite and get “On the beach.”
