Roadside trash cleanup

Ocean Shores Block Watch group is sponsoring a roadside trash pickup effort May 6-7 headquartered at North Bay Park in Ocean Shores. Volunteers should come to North Bay Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. those days to pick up garbage bags and sign up for pre-designated areas. Bring gloves if you have them, and pick-up trucks are needed to help collect the trash. The city of Ocean Shores is providing support, coordination of collection, and other sponsors include McDonald’s, IGA and the North Beach Chamber of Commerce. Kiwanis Scholarship Banquet

The Kiwanis Club of Ocean Shores is having its 27th Annual Scholarship Awards Banquet &Auction on Wednesday, May 17. The Awards Banquet will take place at the Convention Center in Ocean Shores. The social hour and silent auction start at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner, awards, and live auction begin at 7. The cost of the tickets is $30 per person, which includes a full dinner with dessert catered by George Lee. All of the proceeds go to scholarships for North Beach High School students. Women in Motion

Women in Motion have access to their workout facility at 897 Minard in Ocean Shores 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Women in Motion will offer another open house event Saturday, May 6 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) for any women interested in getting fit or staying fit. Joint garage sale

The Coastal Interpretive Center and North Beach VFW Post 8956 will hold a huge joint garage sale over Memorial Day weekend. Donations are being taken now (no books or clothing, please) at the VFW, 953 Trent Court SE, between 9 and 11 a.m. Monday-Friday. Call 360-591-7595 for pick-up or other arrangements. The sale will be May 26-28 at the VFW. Proceeds will be split between the VFW Post and the Coastal Interpretive Center.

CERT CPR training

Grays Harbor County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will present a community awareness informational program on infant/child/adult CPR at the Ocean Shores Elementary School on July 29. There are two sessions, one at 8 a.m. and the second at noon. To sign up, email OSTLCERT@aol.com. List all names of those attending and which time you or your group would like to attend. Suggested donation of $10 per adult at the door.

Model Aircraft Club

The club will be meeting every second Saturday of the month, flying drones, gas and electric powered planes, and probably a helicopter now and then. The club is open to men, women and children 6 and older, with memberships for families. You must provide your own equipment for instruction.
