Arnold Samuels
Saturday, April 1, 1-3 p.m. at the FOE Eagles 4197 Club, 676 Ocean Shores Blvd. NW. The remarkable life story of Ocean Shores’ Arnold Samuels, who returned to his native Germany to help hunt down Nazi war criminals, is featured in Washington Remembers World War II, a book that documents the lives of a dozen Washingtonians who served in the conflict. Co-author and state historian John C. Hughes will also autograph copies of the book.
Pt. Brown meeting
The city of Ocean Shores has scheduled a public meeting for April 4 to discuss the preliminary design of what the city calls the Pt. Brown Sidewalks project.
Doors at the Ocean Shores Convention Center open at 5 p.m., with a presentation from 5:30-6, followed by a discussion period with designers from 6-8. A consultant team led by David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) has been retained to assist the city, which conducted an initial round of meetings with property owners and businesses last August.
Elvis benefit show
The second annual Ocean Shores Food Bank benefit with Danny Vernon returning as ”The Illusion of Elvis” will be held Saturday, April 1, at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. There will be a Hawaiian Luau catered by George Lee at 6 with a silent auction throughout the evening, closing at 7 p.m., and Elvis entertaining at 7:30. Tickets are on sale at the Visitor Information Center or from any OSFB director or volunteer. Price for a ticket is $30. All proceeds benefit the Ocean Shores Food Bank.
Nine-hole Golf Association
All women who are interested in a fun-filled morning of golf, you are welcome to join us beginning Wednesday, April 5. We meet at 9 a.m. at the Ocean Shores Golf Course clubhouse and start golfing at 9:30 a.m. Any questions call Pat Miles, (503) 880-0877.
Spay/neuter clinics
A North Beach PAWS free spay/neuter clinic for pets of low-income North Beach residents will be held on April 15. Clinic signup will be at the North Beach PAWS dog house on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Provide verification of address, yearly income, and information about your pet including breed, age, and weight at signup. Do not bring your pet. There is a limit of 2 pets per household. Some breed/age and other restrictions apply. The clinic is paid for by The Albohn Family Foundation and is conducted in partnership with Dr. Stacy Steele and staff at the Ocean Shores Animal Hospital. Council member sessions
Ocean Shores City Council member Holly Plackett has a weekly no-host Council Coffee at 4 p.m. every Tuesday at the Ocean Grille, located at the Quinault Sweet Grass Hotel, 845 Ocean Shores Blvd NW. Everyone is welcome, and the goal is to discuss current issues before the City Council and to gather input and ideas, Plackett said.
