Youth fish derby set for North Bay Park

The sixth annual Youth Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, May 11 on Duck Lake at North Bay Park in Ocean Shores.

The fishing contest is from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and is open to kids 17 and under.

Registration will begin 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. Free T-Shirts will be handed out to each registered participant. There are no entry fees.

Participants who so choose will be assigned a boat and guide. Due to limited space, only one parent will be allowed on each boat.

A trout fishing pond will be provided on shore for younger participants. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the longest lake fish caught in each age group.

The Ocean Shores Pirates will make an appearance. A free lunch will be served to children, parents and volunteers, starting at noon, followed by awards presentations.
